Brooke Asks: My husband and I are taking our 20 month twins girls camping with us over Memorial weekend, and we will be staying in a tent trailer. Any idea how on how to make a safe sleeping area for them so they don’t fall off the bed? This is our first camping trip with them since they have been able to walk…..last year they couldn’t hardly crawl so it was easy to keep them confined.

A bedroom should be a place of solitude so that we can get adequate rest and lower our stress levels from a long day of caring for our kids. I don’t know about you but I don’t want the last thing I see at night and the first thing I see in the morning to be a mess. The rest of our lives are chaos and we need a place to escape to recharge our batteries before the twins come jump into bed the next morning. So this week let’s spring clean our bedroom together and make it a place we can relax in. To get started this is what you will need:

We would like to introduce you to Amanda Blasius
Our May 2012 Super M.O.M.
I am personally nomonitating Amanda as this month’s Super M.O.M. A few weeks ago I asked for writers for our site, and Amanda sent her story. Amanda is a Twiniversity member and mother of three. Amanda also has Fibromyalgia. This disease is very serious and can potentially cause many problems, such as depression, muscle spasms, dizziness, fatigue, memory loss, and bowel issues. After hearing Amanda’s story, we simply could not help but want to share it. Here is what we learned from her:
“Fibromyalgia is defined as overactive nerve endings causing wide spread pain. This is just the top layer of the things fibromyalgia does to you. Many Doctors don’t believe that it even exists. It is called the invisible illness because there are no tests for fibromyalgia but 13 tests to prove you don’t have- More

“A toddler wanders out of her home and onto the highway where she was struck by a car and killed.” Have you heard of a story like this before? Tragic accidents like this leave deep wounds not only for the family but also the driver of the car. Tragedies such as these can happen to any of us, but there are steps we can take to prevent such a horrible accident.
Maybe you have had a “close call” moment where your little ones discovered they could open up the front door and maybe they even walked out. These heart stopping moments give us a second chance. What will you do with your second chance? Just hope it doesn’t happen again? Or will you learn from it and take steps to prevent it from happening again? More

From the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association
As outside temperatures rise, the dangers for children being seriously injured or even dying from being left alone inside a hot car also rises. The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) has joined with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in an effort to reduce these deaths by reminding parents and caregivers about the dangers of heatstroke in young children.
“More than half of all vehicle-related heatstroke deaths in children are caused by a child accidentally being left in the car, and more than 30 percent are from a child getting into a hot car on their own,” said Michael Dwyer CAE Executive Director of JPMA. More
