My family of five movedto the Netherlands last October. We flew out ofour small, local South Carolina airport for a single connection to Atlanta. From there we faced an overnight flight to Amsterdam with our 3.5 year old and 2 year old twin boys.

And so started our adventure as expats. There have been trials and bumps along the way, but for the most part, we are adjusting and creating a life here that feels like “home”. Home is, after all, the people you are with — not necessarily the physical place where you reside. I know that is somewhat difficult for some people to understand — and it really wasn’t until we left our home right before the holidays that this has really rung true.
