What makes your twins rock?!

My sons are best friends – they love each other dearly. They take turns being “the leader” – neither one is fully dominant over the other – they balance it out well. They are incredibly loving, well-behaved, kind, sweet boys – which doesn’t mean that we don’t have a huge amount of shooting, chasing, blowing things up, and flying (all complete with amazing sound effects) happening at our house all day long :). Each morning when they wake up, they come crawl into bed with me so we can have some mom-boys cuddle time – it’s my absolute favorite part of each day. I am continually amazed by the way they are always looking out for each other, sharing, taking turns, and supporting each other.

Meet Matthew and Michael

Nominated by: Mother Allison Clow

Age: 4

Home State: FL

What makes your twins rock?!

My twins, Michael and Matthew rock because they inspire my family on a daily basis! They both have cerebral palsy and had and continue to overcome many odds. They are determined to overcome their disabilities. Michael uses a walker to walk and is working on taking steps unassisted. Matthew is just starting to use a walker to get around. They are such amazing boys. They are always smiling and happy!

What is a recent accomplishment?

Michael took steps on his own during therapy. They both finally potty trained!!!

What are a few of their favorite things?

Song: Star Wars Theme Music

TV Show: Jake and the Neverland Pirates

Book: Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom

Toy: Superhero/Star Wars toys

What do they like most about being twins?

They always have a playmate.

How have they changed you?

There isn’t enough space here to describe how they have changed me. They have made me a better person, mom and wife. They have taught me far more about life than I will ever teach them.

What is your #1 tip for twin parents?

Ask for help! People are willing to help, you just need to ask.

We hope that Matthew and Michael enjoyed this great gifts from Safari Ltd this holiday season!

It’s never too early to talk to your kids about Dinosaurs!- by Trevor Marcum

Dinosaurs!  Even as an adult the word still carries your imagination to place where creatures come in unreal shapes and sizes. I can remember as a child bargaining with my father to take me to see Jurassic Park.  The deal we brokered:  Read the book first, then we’ll go see it in theaters.  At eight years old my fascination with them moved me to push through the 400+ page book in time to go see the movie.  That simple push led to a lifetime love of reading… and dinosaurs.

So what is it about Dinosaurs that almost universally captures a child’s imagination?  Is it their size?  Is it that we only know their general shape from their fossilized bones, and the rest has to be filled in with our imagination? Is it why they disappeared?  Or maybe it’s just the question “Who would win in a fight, T-Rex or Triceratops?”  (No way Triceratops would lose to that short armed pansy scavenger!)

The fact is that there are no sure answers to those questions.  If your child says “Stegosaurus was purple with blue stripes”, no one can tell him he’s wrong.  If asked “What happened to the dinosaurs?” all we can really tell them is what we think happened.  “A question mom or dad can’t answer?!  I’ll have to find out and tell them!”  What fun would that be for your child to find something out that you don’t know!

Playing with dinosaur toys encourages not only imagination, but also the concept of research.  That they might find out something new that no one has found out before.  So if they have not yet been exposed to the Dino itch, or if they have full blown Dino fever take some time to play and share with your children this wonderful world of Dinosaurs with these amazing toys that help bring dinosaurs to life from Safari Ltd.

And here’s a cute little music video about dinosaurs to share with your kids.
