How many diapers will your babies go though in the beginning? The average is about 9 a day (give or take). Now times that by the number of multiples you are having! That’s A LOT of diapers! But don’t worry, by changing them at the double or triple rate you will become a pro in no time and will be able to be the fastest diaper changer on your block in no time! Let’s discuss the basics of diaper changing and disposable vs. cloth diapers.

Diapering basics:

  • Set up a designated area in your house for diaper changes. Make sure everything you need is in arms reach; diapers, wipes and rash cream. Never leave a baby on a changing table even for a second! Always keep a grip on the baby on the changing table to avoid a fall and fasten the belt. Never put 2 babies on the changing table at once! Change one baby, put him in a safe place then change the other baby.
  • It is usually best to change your babies before they eat rather than after to prevent them from spitting up and to allow them to relax on a full stomach, especially if you want them to go back to sleep in the middle of the night.
  • When diapering a boy, tuck his penis down to keep from getting showered (skip the pee pee tee-pees!).
  • When cleaning a girl, wipe from front to back to keep her from getting an infection.

  • Diapering doesn’t have to be all business, talk or sing to your baby while you change them to make them feel as comfortable as possible. More

When I mentioned to people that I was going to cloth diaper my twins, many told me I was crazy.  In all honesty its one of the easiest parts about having twins. The choice to use cloth was environmental more than anything else, but cloth can save you lots of money too.

There are countless types, styles, fabrics, sizes, brands, etc. So many choices it can be overwhelming. CD=Cloth Diapering. OS=one size. AIO= All in One. AI2= All in Two. PUL=polyurethane laminated fabric, (protective covers.) Fitted diapers Prefolds, (the good old fashioned type.) Pocket diapers. What kind of fabric to use: cotton, microfiber, hemp, and the list goes on. More
