
What do dad’s have to say? We asked dads a couple of questions about being a father of twins. Here are a few of them.
Question 1: What was your first though/reaction when you found out you were going to be a dad of multiples?
- “The day I found out I was having identical girls was the same day I began building my ‘man cave!'”– Chad C.
- Talyse Krolewicz Burkett My husband, the banker, said, “We have to put them both through college in 18 years. And what if they’re both girls and they get married around the same time?” Upon finding out they were b/g, he said, “At least we won’t have to worry about boys talking about her in the locker room.” ~Jason, dad of 3-year-old twins.
- “Is this a joke, is there a camera in here? am I being punked?” Then started laughing. James- dad to 1 1/2 year old twin boys.
- Jenn relates: “I found out at a regular 12 week appointment. He got called into work. When I met him for lunch with the ultrasound picture Brad said ‘hahaha you almost got me, where is the real picture?’ It took him 30 minutes to believe me!!” – Brad – dad to Emma and Ella 2 year old identical girls, and 3 year old Sophie.
“Alright! Instant family”! – Solomon- “We have to get a van” Dad to 2 boys and expecting boy/girl twins soon.
- Summer relates: My VERY reserved husband did a little hop and said, “I knew it. This is great! Why are you crying?” -James- father to 2 year old boy/girl twins.
- “Are you serious? S#%*! We were almost out!” (We already have children 20 and 13 and) “I was looking forward to us dating again, and not having to worry about the kids” -Father to 14 month old Girl/boy twins.
- “WOW! Kelley is gonna get huge!” -Hooman- daddy to 3month old boy/girl twins and 4 year old Grady.
- Leslie relates her husbands response: “That’s right 2 for the price of 1. I’m the man! I put them there.” LOL He thought he was hot stuff.
- “If its a boy and girl we are naming them Luke and Leia!” – Devin- dad of 8 month old boy/girl twins. Luckily his wife talked him out of it…lol
- The ultrasound tech was being cute in breaking the news and asked if we wanted to hear both heartbeats. Eric asked, ” Why would the baby have two different heartbeats?”. – dad to twin boys!
- “I agreed to one.” It was an extreme shock at the time, now we are blessed beyond belief. –Dad to 6 year old twins.
- “My first thought was ‘It’s all over.’ Meaning we didn’t have to get pregnant again. We wanted 4 kids, and we got them – just never expected to have 4 girls under 4 years old at one time!”-Doug father to g/ 4 girls.
- “I hope it’s girls.” Tim- Father to 13 month old twin girls- Justine and Kaylee.
- Tonia relates: his reaction was: ”No way!!” (with total excitement) -those twins are now 4. The next time it was, “No way!!” (with terror) -those twins are 1. Guess what he has to say about more children? “No way!!” -Brian dad to 2 sets of twins ages 4 and 1.
- ”Relief! After trying for a very long time.” -Ben, dad to 8 month old twin boys
- “There goes the rest of my hair!” (With joyful tears and laughter.) JR- dad to 5 year old twin girls.
Question 2: What do you like most about being a dad of twins?-
- “I love getting bunches of hugs at the same time. Somebody always wants daddy to hold them.” -dad of 4 girls. 8, 3 and 23mo twins
- ”I always get two gifts on holidays!” -James- dad of boy/girl twins age 2
- “Twice the fun!” -Jeff (said with a big smile, whilst reading “The Foot Book” by Dr. Suess to fraternal twin boys, age 16 months.)

- “There is ALWAYS someone to play with!” (as all 4 are wrestling in the livingroom) -Eric-Daddy to 3 boys: Cooper 5 and fraternal twins Cason & Colton age 2 1/2
- “That I feel more involved than if we had one baby, because I have to be!- Graeme, UK, daddy to fraternal girls Ruby and Poppy
- ”They have someone to play with….so I can take a break!”-Unknown
- “Watching them grow and seeing how different but how much alike they are.” – Jose- father of 6 year old identical girls Abegail and Gabriella.
- “Twice the wrestling and playing around. It’s pure awesomeness!! Me and my little buddies.”–Christopher- dad to 21 month old fraternal boys.
- “When they don’t finish their food, I can eat both plates.” Father of 3 year old g/b twins.
- “2 smiling faces to greet me when I get home from work” Father to 14 month old boys, Joel and Noah.
- “The difference between a singleton baby and twin babies is not just1 times 2, it’s more like mono sound vs surround sound!” -Peter- dad to 34 year old singleton and 11 year old twin girls.
- “I see a little of myself in each of them, but different things.” –Mark- Dad of twin 4 year old boys Sal and Enzo.
- “One and done!” (Since we had twins our first pregnancy and we aren’t having any more kids). –Shane- dad t0 Jakob & James, 5 year old twins
