I have to say that as a Mom of 3 kids under 4, I don’t get out much. But with the kids on break from pre-school and me on break from school we decided to go to a movie! This was their second trip to see a movie in the theater. I decided to take them to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. I was not sure if it was a good choice but it was the only movie showing nearby with a G rating.
My almost 4 year olds were quiet and watched the entire movie! They were enthralled with the chipmunks. Not only are they in nearly constant motion, they are cute and fuzzy. I can’t imagine a kid that won’t like them. I liked that they were listening intently to Dave explain to Alvin why he needed to follow the rules. Of course, Alvin went on to make more mistakes but there were consequences and he learned why it was important to listen to Dave!
Even though I grew up listening to the Chipmunks every Christmas, I had never even heard of the Chipettes. I have to say that I was concerned about how they were portrayed in the previews but they were actually quite innocent and cute! They are well matched to the chipmunks.
There was an abundance of humor for the adult viewers and I laughed quite a bit. Some of it was a little suggestive and the adults in the theater laughed but it went right over the kids heads. I also enjoyed hearing the Chipmunks sing renditions of a number of my favorite songs. I might actually buy the soundtrack to listen to in the car with the kids.
If you are looking for something to get you out of the house I think you and your kids will enjoy this movie!
