Should You See War Horse?

War Horse, originally a book, then a Tony Award winning play, and now soon to be cinema classic, hits theaters this weekend. Thanks to Moms and the Cityhave your “twin mom” inside peek into this glorious Steven Spielberg directed film.

To be honest, this movie was not at the top of my “to see” list, but words can not describe how glad I am now that I’ve seen it. It has been YEARS since I’ve been touched by a movie as outstanding as this one. It pulls at your heart strings and takes you on a journey you’ll never forget…all without leaving your seat.

This PG-13 movie, I assure you, will be this weekends biggest blockbuster. After all the hustle and bustle of the holiday, I could not think of a better way of spending the day after Christmas, or the eve of Christmas day for that matter, then in a dark room eating mounds of popcorn while watching this amazing feature film.  More

UPDATE: My Twins Received Expensive Gifts from a Friend…

Not sure how many of you read the other day’s post about when your child receives expensive gifts from a friend, but I have an update!

This morning I brought the DS’s to school and went to talk to the mom who gave us this overly generous gift.

Long story short, she said (I’m paraphrasing here, but you’ll get the gist of it), “I have no family, no one but my daughter and husband. I’m an orphan and I have no one to take care of. I have no parents or grandparents that I have to care for. No aunts or uncles. Spoiling my daughter and her friends is one of the things that makes me the happiest. We can afford it, so we do. Please let me give these to your children.” More

We asked their mom a few questions and here is what she had to say about her twinnies and the holidays:

How old are they?
15 months

What was your most memorable moment from the day your multiples were born? I couldn’t believe how big and healthy they were. They didn’t spend anytime in the NICU.  Sebastian was 5lb 9oz and Lucianna was 5lbs 11oz.  I just remember looking at them and thinking “they are so beautiful.”  I was so relieved that they were finally in my arms.

How do you plan on celebrating the holidays with your family this year? We plan on enjoying Christmas one last time in Albuquerque, NM.  From there, we are moving to Alaska in January.  We have no family around since I’m active duty Air Force.  We usually spend Christmas with other military families but all of them are going out of town this year.  It’ll be a nice and quiet Christmas.

Does your family have any holiday traditions you can share with us? We’ve always set up the Christmas tree on Thanksgiving day.  This year, I got us a small Christmas tree, decorated in red to represent Elmo.  It’ll be fun to have the kids join in when they’re older.  We’ll have our big tree and the small one will be for them to decorate.  I can’t wait to show them how to do it.

What was YOUR favorite gift you received for the holidays as a child? My favorite gift as a child was a Barbie car for my Barbie.  I wasn’t used to getting accessories for my Barbies so I thought this was a huge hit!

Finish this sentence: The best part of being a parent of multiples is there’s a new adventure everyday and it’s fun.  Being a mommy of twins is awesome!
